Reference Manual on Scientific Evidence, 3rd Edition
The manual is developed by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the Federal Judicial Center (FJC). The National Academy of Sciences is a society of distinguished scholars engaged in scientific and engineering research, dedicated to the furtherance of science and technology and their use for the general welfare. Upon the authority of the charter granted by Congress in 1863, the National Academy of Science has a mandate that requires it to advise the federal government on scientific and technical matters. The Federal Judicial Center, established by Congress in 1967 (28 U.S.C. ยงยง 620-629), is the research and education agency of the federal judicial system. Dr. Liptai was honored to serve as a peer reviewer on this project (page xi).
